SLIGHTLY FERAL. ENTIRELY CAPABLE.

About Slightly Feral Media

Slightly Feral Media documents live culture from inside the room—the artists, venues, crews, rituals, infrastructure, and strange human ecosystems that exist wherever people gather to make something loud.

Behind the camera is Alethea Mehdipour, a live music photographer and stagehand based in Lawrence, Kansas, working throughout Lawrence, Kansas City, Topeka, and wherever the road provides sufficient evidence.

The approach is documentary rather than polished perfection. The goal is to preserve what it actually felt like to be there: the movement onstage, the humans against the barricade, the exhausted practitioner of stagecraft in the wings, the architecture overhead, the cables underfoot, and the moments nobody knew were important until they were gone.

And then there is Laverna the Rockin’ Raccoon.

Laverna is the publication’s resident observer, the camera so to speak—an outsider attempting to understand the peculiar rituals of live culture through field notes, collected evidence, and an increasingly suspicious amount of access. She documents the humans. Alethea photographs them.

Together, they make Slightly Feral Media.

The room left evidence. The raccoon collected it.

Slightly feral. Entirely capable.
